The TRIPS Agreement (Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights) is a pivotal international legal framework established by the World Trade Organization (WTO) to protect intellectual property (IP) rights.

  • Civil and administrative procedures and remedies.
  • Provisional measures.
  • Special requirements related to border measures.
  • Criminal procedures.

Dispute Settlement Mechanism

The TRIPS Agreement includes a robust dispute resolution mechanism to resolve conflicts between member states.

TRIPS and Developing Countries

The TRIPS Agreement incorporates provisions to assist developing countries in meeting their obligations, including extended deadlines and technical assistance.

Note: Developing countries have been granted longer periods to implement the provisions of the TRIPS Agreement.

Relationship with Other International Agreements
